Copying your course materials from one course to another course
You can re-use course material from a previous course by copying content from a source course (the course you want to copy from) to a target course (the ’empty’ course that you want to copy to). This is usually done when we want to copy the course materials we used in one term to the same course being taught in another (later) term. This procedure is known as a course “roll-over”.
You must have access to both the source course and the target course in order to copy these materials.
Go into your new, empty course shell (the target course).
Find your course from the “My Home” page and select the current term and click on your course.
Click on the Copy / Export / Import link
Here you have four options. This job aid is an example of copying all items from a previous course offering:
Select Copy items from another course and check the box next to “Include protected IMS resources” (this option refers to SCORM packages).
Click on Select a course
Search directly for your course by:
- entering the CRN and term of the source course and Click the magnifying glass (see screenshot listed below)
- using the search box by Click the magnifying glass on the Search box to have all your courses listed.
Select “Copy all items”:
The system will begin the copy process; please wait for the green check mark to appear before navigating away from the page.
– Please do not do this operation more than once as it will duplicate all materials.
– Students will not be able to see the materials in this course until the start date. Here is a job aid on start dates.
